Charleston Crabapple The Garden Buzz
I spent GBBD in airplanes and airports; my least favorite thing in the world. Flying is unnatural. Perhaps that is one of the many reasons why I loath it so, a complete and utter lack of any greenery; just lots of plastic and metal and bad upholstery.
My daughter and I are escaping all the St Patrick's hoo-ha in Savannah here in Charleston. And I had planned on playing hooky from Garden Bloggers Bloom Day, until I saw the tree. All crabapples are beautiful, but this one had a little something extra going for it...three colors of blooms; white pink and red with no obvious grafting involved.
I wasn't the only one taking this tree's picture, it was quite the tourist attraction. A passerby said the tree was trying to get attention. Well, it sure worked.
3-Color Crabapple The Garden Buzz
Then we found another tree down a side street with the same color combination.
Sorry for the small photos, my hotel internet connection is not cooperating.
Can anyone explain this color phenomenon?
